The Brief

As part of a wider house renovation our clients were looking to transform a vaulted underground room in their garden in to a bespoke cinema room to seat 6 people with a custom entrance lobby / snack bar that would also house their movie collection.

The AV and control Systems

The specification of system for this room was tricky due to the limited space available to maintain the rooms width and the requirement for all technology to be completely hidden but ultimate were were able to design the room to make everything fit and deliver superb performance with cinemascope 9 foot wide screen, JVC 4k projector and Dolby Atmos 9.2.4 surround sound system.

The Room Design and Interior Fit

Working from the tanking system installed by the main contractor our initial focus was ensuring the room design and interior visuals would allow for the necessary depth of all hidden speakers and the projector whilst still accommodating the seating and providing a full soundproof shell.

Ultimately a design including ikoustic sound proofing treatment, Acupanel wooden slat cladding, Kadravat acoustic fabrics and bespoke handmade fixed seating with swivel tray tables was agreed upon, alongside a dark moody entrance lobby with bespoke illuminated Blu-ray and DVD display cabinetry and a small snack bar area.

All AV equipment is hidden in concealed cabinetry beneath the screen and the projector was mounted in hidden joinery above the door frame between the cinema room and the lobby
