As part of a new house build we were initially involved to deliver a full house smart home system with a basement cinema room. Initially the cinema was to be taken to first fix stage only and completed later, but as we discussed the full service we could provide and started demonstrating equipment, producing 3D models and mood boards to the clients, they really liked what they saw and decided we could deal with the entire fit out and commissioned us for the full turn key delivery of the room. The key requirements were great performance, seating for 8 and something different from the rest of the house that felt like a cinema but was still warm and cosy.
A full turn key solution was agreed with Finite Solutions undertaking all works from the concrete shell stage, onwards. The room was fully sound proofed to stop sound disruption to other areas of the house and a complete fabric wrap system was applied to all walls and the saw tooth ceiling detail which gave a seamless look and allows for complete concealment of all speakers and acoustic treatments.
To ensure high quality audio performance B&W CT and CW series in wall speakers were specified in full 7.4.2 Atmos configuration which in conjunction with the Arcam processor, Rotel amplification and artnovian acoustic treatments delivered superbly immersive and powerful surround sound.
A Sony 4k projector, Screen Research 10 foot wide acoustically transparent screen, Panasonic 4k Blu-Ray player, Amazon Fire 4k player and sky ensured the best possible quality of image with all sources delivering full native 4k content to the Sony 4k projector.
A combination of two different Cinecca Cinema seating styles covered in matching fabric were selected to allow more formal seating or more relaxed day bed style lounging.
Our initial 3D models allowed our clients to see the layout, finishes and space available in their cinema room. 3D models were presented alongside mood boards and samples of fabric, flooring, lighting and other finishes so the clients were completely confident in what would be delivered.
The audio-visual equipment is all hidden out of side in a custom AV rack built in to a hidden cupboard and all speakers are located behind the Fabric wall panels so as not to distract from the look of the room. Operation of the whole system from the AV to lighting and heating is incredibly simple via a Crestron smart remote control or the clients iPad or iPhone.
The clients love the room which has now been shortlisted for several industry awards as it showcases just how much can be achieved for a reasonable budget and the audio and video performance being simply exceptional.
