The Room Design and Fit Out
Our clients brief was to provide a dedicated cinema room to seat a minimum of 8 people with high end performance suitable for both watching movies and every day TV and sporting events as part of the construction of a new basement beneath their existing home which would also house a bar and games room.
After touring various demonstration facilities to get a feel for the desired internal room style and equipment specification and budget we agreed on a Meridian audio system and JVC projector with anamorphic lens and moved on to the rooms design phase.
3D visualisations of the proposed interior design and layout were produced in house and signed off by the clients followed by detailed build drawings to allow the clients main contractor to build the sound proof shell and run all cabling ready for our in house team to complete the internal acoustic treatments, staging, fabric wall finishes and lighting installation.
Whilst we offer, and often complete full turnkey solutions to cinema builds, if a client has a team of contractors on site for wider build works then sharing the cinema fit out between basic and specialist works by Finite Solutions often represents the most cost effective solution.
The Equipment
The cinema system includes a reference standard equipment specification decided upon after demonstrations of various manufacturers equipment and delivers stunning performance for both movies and music.

The End Result
During the design phase the room was expanded and made larger to accommodate a 3rd row of seating which required the projector to be built in to the rear wall which ultimately made for an even slicker finish to the room and a space big enough to accommodate 12 people in complete comfort in seats sourced directly by our client.
The Meridian sound system delivers superb detailed and immersive sound that is powerful yet controlled, due to the nature of the active DSP system inherent in all Meridian speakers, and creates the genuine “suspension of disbelief” we always strive to achieve in any high end cinema or media room.
The huge Cinemascope screen and JVC projector and anamorphic lens system also combine to offer a perfect solution for watching widescreen TV and playing video games and for Cinemascope movies, making the room very versatile which ultimately ensures the room is used most days by the clients family and friends.
