Lock Down Cinema and Bar Area

The Brief

Having considered a cinema room for some time our client decided to take the plunge during lock down as a way to make time at home more fun.

Our brief was to transform the main, unused outbuilding space in to a dedicated cinema room, bar/lobby area and game machine room.

The design style and aesthetics were left open with the only stipulation being relaxed seating instead of recliners and that comprehensive sound proofing was important. Performance was to be as high as possible within a given overall budget based on delivering performance akin to our show house cinema room.

The Design and Delivery

3D design work was used heavily to show our clients how the space could look and to allow them to see the effect changes of different lighting and material finishes.

After the 3D model was signed off the construction drawings were produced by our team and final fabric selection made by the client before moving on to the build phase which was a 6 week turn around from start to handover.

Full room within a room, double boarded and ply lined construction created the new cinema and lobby area spaces which delivered a high level of sound proofing. Acoustic treatments were installed behind the fabric lined walls along with the speakers, in ceiling inset linear lighting and air conditioning.

Bespoke seating was built for the cinema room and lobby in matching leathers.

The Equipment and Finished System Delivery

The cinema room was fitted with a Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 configuration surround sound system utilising B&W 7 series in wall, ceiling speakers and an Anthem 1120 surround processor. The 4k HDR image was delivered via a JVC N7 projector, Projecta acoustically transparent 11 foot wide projection screen for crystal sharp images from Sky Q, Apple TV, a Panasonic Blu-Ray player and the clients games consoles

All equipment was housed in a pull out equipment rack built in to the lobby cabinetry.

A Control4 system provided control over the cinema/ lobby music, TV system, Lutron lighting with the air conditioning making everything quick and simple to operate.

Upon completion the room has been Dirac calibrated to deliver a truly powerful, enveloping surround sound experience and the finished result is an amazing home cinema delivered as turn key package in under 6 weeks.
