The Brief
As part of a complete redevelopment of the Dewars Hotel in Malton our clients were looking for a simple effective solution for a number of elements of technology in the guest rooms and dining and entertaining facilities.
We were required to provide a discrete system for music playback in the restaurant, bar lounges and spa plus the bedroom TV’s and a building wide network for staff and guest use.
Lighting control was also required in the entertainment and dining areas and the spa to ensure appropriate easily automated mood lighting settings for each time of day.
Lighting Control
A Lutron QS lighting control system is installed with centralised lighting controls which allows simple mood lighting selection for each area via back of house Lutron See Touch engraved keypads making option simple for staff.
Automated lighting mood selections also occur dependant on the time of day and external lighting levels.
The Spa features DMX controlled colour changing mood lighting to create a calming environment.
Audio Visual Systems
As ceiling voids we limited Anthony Gallo’s discrete 4″ metal spere speakers and small form wall mounted subwoofers have been deployed throughout linked to playlist on a simple Sonos streaming platform with Sonance digital amplifiers allowing linked music throughout or separate audio to each main reception area.
Sony Pro hotel TV’s are used in hotel bedrooms for robust locked down reliable performance with the ability to plug in a laptop of media streaming device to an in room wall socket.
WiFi Network
To ensure Wi-Fi coverage is complete, fast and reliable with secure staff networks and Guest Wi-Fi a Ruckus network has been deployed throughout due to its ability to handle multiple concurrent users and create seamless WiFi as you move from one area to the next.
