The Brief
Our clients were looking to create a fun entertainment space in the basement of their new home for the whole family to enjoy, featuring a cinema area, pool table and bar. Working alongside the main contractor and interior designers Finite Solutions were given the brief to deliver a high quality video and surround sound system, provide music throughout the space, design the lighting and provide a quick easy way to control everything.
The Solution
After several demonstrations of different levels of audio visual equipment a specification of Triad in wall speakers, Yamaha surround sound receiver, JVC 4K projector and Screen research projector screen were selected.
Lighting design was created that provides a flexible and warm environment that highlights the superb interior design features. The lighting is controlled by a robust and easy to operate Lutron lighting system with bespoke engraved smart keypad.
A TV was also integrated in to the bar area so you can also watch sports or music video whilst sat at the bar.
A Sonos audio system integrated for easy music streaming and a Control4 smart home control system was added which provide one touch control er over the cinema and music systems, lighting and heating in the room via iPad or iPhone.
Concept Interior Design
A 3D model was produced to demonstrate the proposed cinema layout and screen size and the design was then developed by the client interior designers adding a backlit Wooden surround to the projector screen and additional detailing to the cabinetry to provide a very high specification room finish.
Discrete Equipment and Simple Operation
As all the space in the room had to be maximised to allow for all the rooms uses the audio visual and smart home system equipment was installed in to 3x small equipment racks hidden in cabinetry below the screen. The racks can be pulled out for service and the cupboard is cooled to ensure equipment doesn’t overheat. The Control smart system provides instant iPad and iPhone control over the whole rooms AV and environment but also integrates to the wider house systems such as the gate intercom and security systems.
End Result
The integrated smart technology makes this space work perfectly for many different uses and is regularly used by the family to watch films and play pool and to watch sporting events with friends where the sound and picture quality delivered massive enhance the viewing experience.
