The Room Design and Fit Out
We were contact by our clients interior designer who was looking for a turnkey solution to provide a high end media room in an existing finished billiards room that was to be repurposed.
Our brief was deliver a stunning Art Deco themed classical cinema interior without causing any damage to the existing Shellac walls or wood flooring.
Equipment from Wisdom, Acurus and Barco was selected after demonstrations of various solutions but the challenge was to deliver a room that looked and sounded great whilst effectively being a complete retro fit.
The design phase included liaison with the interior designer, our in house designers, acoustic specialists and a trusted local brass worker who ultimately built free standing brass art deco wall panels to our designs which would house all speakers and acoustic treatments, the projector screen, drop down projector lift system and the main central equipment rack.
The attention to detail really is amazing in this room with every aspect of the interior being custom made and enhanced with metal and wood detailing and even the Fortress cinema recliners were imported from America and then customised with client supplied fabric and brass cupholders.
The Equipment
The cinema system includes a high end equipment specification based on the reference system at the Finite Solutions Show House and delivers stunning performance for both movies and music. The following equipment is installed:

Controlling the Acoustics
As the cinema room featured a shellac paint finish and solid wood flooring which could not be damaged or changed during the installation of the cinema system the inherent acoustics in the room were very poor. Without treatment this would have resulted in an overly bright and resonant sound that would not have allowed the equipment to deliver to its optimum performance potential.
Working alongside Vicoustic our team designed the surface mounted art deco wall and ceiling panels to not only conceal the speakers and subwoofers but also to house considerable acoustic treatments all hidden by the acoustically transparent fabric finish of the panels.
The results of the acoustic treatments are profound and demonstrate just how effective well design acoustic systems can be in delivering incredible audio performance without spoiling the look of a room.
