The Brief
To deliver a high quality media room and smart system which allows for easy access and control over the houses entertainment systems, security and environment within a fixed budget as part of a home renovation/extension project.
The Solution
The specification of a system which could provide for all requirements of the client whilst staying under budget lent itself to a Control4 smart home system which utilised in wall touch screen panels, hand held remotes and the families smart phones/tablets to control all aspects of the home.
The media room was a separate element of the budget, combining high quality audio visual specification from JVC, Screen Research, Triad Yamaha and a very high end interior fit out to create a wonderful family space which could be enjoyed by the whole family for a variety of purposes.
Integrated Technology
The systems working beneath the Control4 smart system were as follows; Sonos music system, Wyrestorm 4k video system, Rako lighting Control, Dahua CCTV, Heatmiser underfloor Heating, 2N gate intercom and a Texicom Premier burglar alarm.
To support the Control4 smart home system all equipment was supported by a solid Cisco and Ruckus wifi network, housed in a custom built and wired Middle Atlantic professional pull out AV racking which was built in to the cinema room media cabinetry.
Design and Installation
The design process involved Finite Solutions liaising with the main architect, home owner, interior designer, cabinet maker, plumbers and security contractors to develop a detailed set of design documents that all trades could work from to deliver a fully integrated solution.
Installation of the systems involved off site wiring and testing of the AV racks during the first fix stage on site so all equipment was ready for installation upon commencement of second fix. The full installation all speakers, TV’s, CCTV cameras and gate entry panels was completed by Finite engineers as each area was decorated and cleaned. Upon installation of the AV racks in the media room the whole house system was commissioned and signed off for stage 1. Our engineers were then able to integrate other systems such as heating and security one they had been signed off as fully operational by the main third party contractors prior to a final handover over and instructional guide review by our lead project manager.
End Result
The clients are delighted with the installation but in particular the simplicity of the systems operation by the whole family and guests plus the effectiveness of the lighting control system, performance and design of the Media room in the basement.
