Attic Play Room to Bespoke Cinema Room Conversion
A former play room in the attic of this stunning property was transformed by Finite Solutions and award winning interior designer Ben Huckerby in to a comfortable, stylish, high performance cinema room – The ultimate play room for the whole family
The Brief
When our client first approached us the new property he had purchased featured a large play room in the attic space. Whilst the client wanted a room for his children to enjoy he wanted to transform the space into a room the whole family could get together in and a dedicated cinema room was the obvious choice.
Room Design
Whilst our client wanted the room to have a cinema feel he didn’t want cinema seating as he preferred more conventional sofa’s. In conjunction with the client and interior designers a floating raft consisting of 3 tiers of seats was built in the centre of the room which provided two rows of sofa’s and a day bed on the front row which allowed the client, his whole family and their friends to enjoy the room together in complete comfort.
A bar was also built in an alcove of the room so cold drinks and pop corn were never in short supply, this was also used to house a Mid Atlantic Av rack holding all the cinema’s central equipment.
Equipment Set up
To provide the level of quality the client was looking for a JVC DLA-9XB 3D projector, 9 foot wide Stewart fixed projector screen and Kaleidescape M-700 and 3U server was installed to deliver stunning visuals and an easy way to browse a very large movie collection.
To complement the superb picture quality B&W signature range speakers and subwoofers were installed in the roof space of the room in conjunction with Lexicons stunning MC-12 HD processor and RB7 power amplifier.
A Sky+HD box, PS3, Wii and Karaoke system completed the equipment line up making the room a great party space.
Simple To Use
A Crestron CP2E and TPMC-10 touch screen panel were used to provide instant simple control over the system which also operates the Lutron lighting and blind system and Mitsubishi air conditioning. The incredibly simple to operate panel is used by the whole family and provides CCTV images and gate entry control to allow the properties security to be checked instantly at any time.
Final Results
The rooms looks and sounds incredible and the client and his family enjoy watching films together and entertaining hosting Karaoke nights, movie nights and spots parties on a regular basis
