Saw Tooth Cinema – Yorkshire

"Just fantastic. I’m so glad we opted to do this turn key with you as we just wouldn’t have achieved this any other way given everything else that was going on in the main house build"

Project Location: Yorkshire
Project Cost: Private
Categories: Bespoke Home Cinema

The Brief

As part of a new house build in Yorkshire we were initially involved to deliver a full house smart home system with a basement cinema room. Initially the cinema was to be taken to first fix stage only and completed later but as we discussed the full service we could provide and started demonstrating 3D models and mood boards to the clients they really liked what they saw and
commissioned us for the full turn key delivery of the room. The key requirements were great performance, seating for 8 and something different from the rest of the house that felt like a cinema but was still warm and cosy.

The Solution

A fully sound proofed room within a room was designed to stop sound disruption to other areas of the house and a complete fabric wrap system was applied to all walls and the saw tooth ceiling detail which gave a seamless look and allows for complete concealment of all speakers and acoustic treatments.
The clients preferred a standard 16:9 widescreen format screen over an anamorphic screen as they would watch allot of TV shows and sports in the room as well as movies and whilst masking screen solutions considered they were ultimately deemed unnecessary. A combination of two different Cinecca Cinema seating styles covered in matching fabric were selected to allow more formal seating or more relaxed day bed style lounging.

Integrated Technology

To ensure high quality audio performance B&W CT and CW series in wall speakers were specified in full 7.4.2 Atmos configuration which in conjunction with the Arcam processor and Rotel amplification and artnovian acoustic treatments delivered superbly immersive and powerful surround sound.
A Sony 4k projector, and Screen Research 10 foot wide acoustically transparent screen, Panasonic 4k Blu-Ray player, Amazon Fire 4k player and sky ensured the best possible quality of image with all sources delivering full native 4k content to the Sony 4k projector.
Control4 was installed to operate the complete AV system and Lutron lighting via the clients iPhone and iPad which also integrated with the existing control4 smart system in the wider house so the new room was quick and easy to operate just like every other room of the house.
All cinema equipment was housed in a dedicated AV rack build in to a ventilated cupboard at the front of the room.

Design and Installation

All room build design was completed by Finite Solutions in house from 3D visuals to detailed technical build drawings allowing our joinery team, he
ating engineers, cabinet makers, carpet fitters and Fabric wrap team to create the room exactly as conceived in our 3D models. Finite were given the room as ac concrete shell and other than the main site electrician installing all first and second fix electrical wiring Finite Solutions delivered a complete turn key solution.

End Result

The clients love the room which has now been entered for several industry awards as it showcases just how much can be achieved for a very reasonable budget and the audio and video performance is first class with Arcams Dirac live acoustic calibration software making a dramatic difference to the overall sound which continues to impress our clients and our engineers on site.
