CASE STUDYOPUS MULTI ROOM

Overview

This project involved a full audio visual design of a new prestige 3 bedroom duplex apartment in Bramhope, Leeds. Finite Solutions installed an 8 room Opus 500 system with keypads in every room and three additional Opus Octopus sub zones.

The brief

The client required high quality distributed audio and video throughout the property with discreet in wall control keypads. We were also required to integrate two 5.1 cinemas into the system.

Budget

Approximately £15,000 to £25,000.

High quality audio and video distribution

Each room has access to an iMerge audio hard drive, Sky+ TV, radio, CCTV, Terrestrial Television and DVD as well as a computer network access point. All this is implemented through in-ceiling speakers and LCD flat screens mounted on swivel and tilt brackets which allow them to be viewed from any point in the room.

Used in conjunction with B&W’s excellent CCM65 in ceiling speakers the Opus 500 series produces superb sound quality that fills even the largest of rooms with detailed sound.

Full control of sources using in wall keypads

There is a children’s play room under the eaves a tloft level which has CCTV monitoring with audio, plus a dedicated single stereo speaker and in wall volume control.

Having Opus in-wall keypads (pictures at the bottom of the page) means that from the keypad in each room you can directly change SKY channels, radio stations and music tracks as well as controlling volume levels.

Browse stored CDs on in-wall keypads

One of the biggest advantages of this system is that it allows you see what radio station you are listening to and most importantly it also gives you track information from the music sound server.

The property has two main cinema systems, the primary is in the lounge (pictured above) and uses a 50” Pioneer plasma and THX certified in wall speakers. The second cinema in the master bedroom uses Kef motorized in-ceiling speakers and a 42" Hitachi plasma display on a motorised lift.

Both cinemas are linked into the Opus 500 system so that distributed video and audio and can be enjoyed through both systems.
