iPad control and iTunes music throughout an impressive barn conversion with access to a simply huge movie collection on every TV screen including the dedicated home cinema.
The Brief
After purchasing a house wired for the future our client had several requests “I want use my iPad for everything and I need music and films everywhere!”

A very busy business man with a young family had his entire much loved much collection on his iPhone and wanted the easiest way to access this music throughout his a newly developed barn conversion. The network infrastructure had been installed by the developer meaning we could use the network to share music and data throughout the house.
A solution of Crestron iPod docks in the key rooms of the house allowed our client to drop his iPhone in to the iDock in the kitchen, lounge or master bedroom then browse and select the music stored on it from the his iPad running our intelligent Crestron system in every room of the house allowing his music to follow him in to every room with the ability to skip tracks, change albums and control the volume level instantly in his hand wherever he went. To keep the system flexible for the whole family the children or guests could play their own iPods via the simple Denon iPod docks linked to discrete in ceiling Systemline speakers in their bedrooms where tracks are selected directly on the iPods in the docks.
Movies and Sky HD
A collection of over 700 DVD’s required a high quality and easy to operate movie server. The Kaleidescape system is simply the only easy to use and reliable solution available (believe us we have tried them all!) and the system allowed the installation of Kaleidescape players throughout the property so different movies could be watched simultaneously in numerous rooms for a flexible yet high quality solution.
Integrated with a HD distribution system three Sky HD boxes and CCTV could also be viewed on all TV screens and controlled via simple handheld remotes in the children's rooms and intelligent Crestron touch screens in the main family spaces.
iPad integrated control
The iPad allows incredible levels of control when used with a robust comprehensive back end system like Crestron. Our in house design and programming of a bespoke user interface for this client allowed them to operate their music collection, TV system, lighting and security systems from anywhere in the home from a cost effective multi use iPad.
The real key to the iPad control for a busy businessman who spends allot of time away from home was the ability to monitor and control his home remotely. Via a 3G connection on the iPad the home owner simply taps the Crestron app and can instantly see his CCTV cameras, arm the security system, turn on the garden lights and even prepare the cinema room on his way home for work. This is really is a system where the iPad can do EVERYTHING!
