   Overview
This luxurious home situated in the west wing of this country mansion required multi room audio and high definition throughout the property.

   The Brief
The client two main priorities were the ability to access high definition video, and distributed audio from a centrally stored iPod in all the main rooms of the house. They also required a video interface for browsing through the music stored on the iPod.

High Definition throughout the property
In order to distribute Sky High Definition and HD DVD around the home, it was necessary to use a high definition matrix switcher.

The Key Digital matrix switcher allows any source (e.g. Sky, iPod, DVD) to be enjoyed in any room with the home. It also allows different rooms to watch or listen to different things at the same time.

The two High Definition Sky boxes within the system allow any of the Kitchen, Master Bedroom, Guest Bedroom or Lounge to watch up to two different channels at the same time.
Retro fitting of cables in a 100 year old property
One of the main challenges with this system was the installation of the cabling. The property itself was in a recently converted wing of this former stately home.

The provided two challenges, running cables in a listed building, and the second retro fitting cables in a recently completed property. Our specialist team was able to run all the necessary high definition video, audio and data cables with minimal intrusion using our extensive experience in this field.

The end result is seamlessly integrated in-ceiling speakers and wall mounted screen with no visible cables or intrusion whatsoever.
On Screen iPod throughout the home

All the clients media is stored on iTunes, and both husband and wife use iPods in their cars and for everyday use. We therefore chose a system that would fit into their lives without any complications of moving media between devices or having to change the way they currently enjoy their music.

This obvious solution was using a single Griffin Tunecentre with a very simple to use TV interface (pictured). This allows the client to browse through their music collection in room with a TV, saving the need to have to walk back to the iPod every time they want to change the music. The system allows the same music to played in any number of rooms within the property.

Browse the iPod on the cinema screen
A fantastic feature of the system is plasma/ projector combination lounge room cinema system. Both the plasma and projector screen are capable of displaying any of the high definition sources distributed around the home.

The music stored on the centrally distributed iPod can even be browsed on the massive 7ft projector screen - great for parties. Another superb feature of integrating the iPod with the cinema system, is that the benefits of high quality speakers and amplification can be enjoyed as part of the multi room audio system, and are not just limited to enjoying movies with.

This means that the superb in-wall B&W CWM80 speakers and the MJ Acoustics Ref 1 subwoofer can really be used to the best of their potential.
Simple docks compatible with all iPods

The Griffin TuneCentre is a placed in an easily accessible cupboard in the hallway so that when the client returns home, then can plug their iPod straight in and start enjoying music throughout the home.

It is also compatible with iPod currently on the market which means that although the husband and wife both have different models, the dock seamlessly without and problems.

This is a very cost effective solution to providing simple access to centrally stored music around the home, and is a savvy alternative central higher quality hard disk based server system, such as an iMerge or iDyl Server.

Simple to use remote controls
In each of the main rooms Finite Solutions provided a single remote control to allow simple operation of all the equipment.

In all the bedrooms and the kitchen, MX900 remotes (pictured) turn all the relevant equipment on with a single button press and act as a Sky remote, DVD remote or a remote for the iPod interface. This keeps everything very user friendly, so simple that guests to the house can use the system without any prior knowledge.

A more elaborate LCD touch screen remote was provided in the Lounge Cinema to keep the operation of everything as slick as possible.
Enjoy Music in the En-Suite Bathroom

The En-Suite bathroom serves as an extension to the bedroom audio zone. This quite simply means that whatever music is playing in the bedroom, can also be turned on and off in the bathroom using the bedroom remote control.

This is a very cost effective way of extending the coverage of the system, as it just requires one more set of speakers to create another zone of music.

Another great feature is being able to select Sky channels on the TV in the bedroom and then listen to them in the bathroom, whether this be many of the digital radio stations for music, or Sky breakfast news in the morning.

High quality In-Wall Kitchen speakers
The hub of the home is the kitchen, with it's extensive food preparation space and dining area. It was therefore important to the client to feature high quality music within this area of the property.

For this reason we specified high quality B&W Sig7 NT in-wall speakers that were recessed next to the Sony Bravia HD LCD screen.

The door entry system was also integrated into the TV in the kitchen, so when guests arrive they can be easily seen on the screen, allowing the security gates to be opened.
