A Victorian house at the heart of the capital goes through a magnificent renovation to feature the best and the latest of home technology. Functional and convenient features such as smart lighting, door entry, wireless audio distribution, bespoke home cinema and home automation make this residence a thing of beauty and smarter living.

Wireless Audio System for the Entire Home

High fidelity wireless audio streaming enables our client to listen to different music in different rooms. To tackle this successfully, we have incorporated a staggering 10 Sonos Connect:Amps that ensure wireless audio reaches to every room in the house over the home network.

In-ceiling speakers, together with a 500W active subwoofer by Bowers&Wilkins beautifully blend in with the interior design while providing superior audio quality.

The sound system in this house goes beyond the interior. Waterproof Bowers&Wilkins speakers placed at the back yard integrate perfectly with the entire sound system and provide outdoor music on sunny London afternoons.

Thanks to the great streaming features of Sonos, our client was able to enjoy his music from multiple sources, including Spotify and iTunes. The integration of the wireless audio system with the Control 4 home automation means that wherever our client is in the house, he can control the music in different zones at home using either in-wall touch screens or iPad.

Multi Room Complex Lighting Made Simple

To power complex lighting settings for each zone in the house, we installed Lutron GrafikEye and Homeworks QS, which offered absolutely stunning performance in handling the automated lighting for the entire house.

In addition to in-wall engraved dimmers, we also integrated Lutron with the Control4 automation system, which offered even more options to our client to easily change the lighting settings for each room on their Control4 controller.

Big Screen Entertainment for Seniors and Juniors

Maison Douce is not all about smart home and full house control. It also features absolutely stunning entertainment options.

A bespoke home cinema in the lounge features full-scale entertainment with a 2.4m wide acoustically transparent cinema screen, high end Sony projector and 5.1 surround sound system provided by Bowers&Wilkins. Acoustic wall panelling also helped create the perfect audio reflection in the room.

Our implementation of Lutron lighting and blind control enabled our client to transform his everyday living room into a cinema screen at the touch of a button within seconds.

The performance-rich hardware is supported by seamless entertainment options, with 2 Sky boxes for multi-room TV, Apple TV and Kaleidescape movie server & Bluray vault. All controls of this cinema room was integrated with the Control 4 system, which helped our client control everything from a single remote.

The kids also get their fair share of HD entertainment. The beautifully decorated kids’ play room features a large screen TV and a lighting setting for watching films, where the kids can enjoy their animation films and cartoon on the big screen.

Control4 Automation to Rule Them All

Considering the scale of electronics involved in this 4 storey household, controlling individual components becomes a big challenge. The core requirement behind this project was to be able to create an infrastructure that could handle anything. Control 4 smart home automation system was the perfect solution to achieve exactly that.

With the help of 4 traditional handheld remotes, 3 in-wall touch screens and 2 client-supplied iPads; Control 4 system offered absolutely simple control of all electronics with an easy-to-use interface. Control 4 system centralises gate entry, heating/cooling, wireless multi-room audio/video, lighting and home cinema control.

All Electronics Hidden

All the main hardware used in the system, including Sky boxes, Apple TV, Sonos, Kaleidescape and network; are neatly hosted in a central rack in a ventilated area at home. The rack is located in a spare room in the cupboard, which helps succeed such a big scale of infrastructure with no cables of boxes apparent.
